Small, rugged fixed mount computer

The CV30 is a small, rugged, and very compact fixed mount computer that can be used in vehicles or stationary applications. With a footprint of 7.45 x 6.95 inches, a thickness of 2.15 inches, and a weight of just over three pounds, it fits almost anywhere. It has a 6.4-inch VGA (640 x 480 pixels) display with a fairly wide viewing angle of 140 degrees as well as a strong 350 nit backlight. Its resistive touch screen comes with a heater.

Unlike Intermec's other fixed-mount computer, the CV60, the CV30 is strictly a Windows Mobile or Windows CE.Net device and cannot run Windows XP. It is powered by the 520MHz version of the Marvell PXA270 processor that is used in numerous Windows CE and Pocket PC handhelds. There is 128MB of SDRAM and 128MB of flash memory. Memory expansion is via a SD Card slot. Unlike most Windows CE devices, the CV30 has a generous complement of onboard interfaces: there are two USB 2.0 host ports with DB15 locking connectors, a standard RJ45 LAN port, as well as two DB9 legacy serial ports.

For wireless communication, the CV30 has integrated 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth Class II. Data collection scanner support is either via tethered serial connection to a bar code scanner or RFID scanner, or via Bluetooth to selected peripherals.

Despite its small size, the CV30 is a very rugged device. It is sealed to IP66 specifications, which means it is dustproof and, short of total immersion, totally waterproof, even against high pressure water jets. Operating temperature spans a very wide range from -22 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, and the CV30 can handle the shocks and vibrations likely to be encountered in a vehicle.
