Panasonic Toughbook CF18
Compact rugged Tablet PC convertible (by Conrad H. Blickenstorfer)
The CF18 represents the sole Tablet PC offering in Panasonic's lineup of Toughbook ruggedized mobile computers. Panasonic practically pioneered the use of magnesium in mobile computers and uses it extensively in the CF18.
With a footprint of just 10.7 x 8.5 inches the CF18 is barely larger than the little Acer C110, and despite its significant ruggedness, at 4.5 pounds it weighs barely more than a consumer convertible.
Like those two business-class Tablet PCs, the CF18 is a notebook convertible with a display that pivots around and lays down flat to turn the computer into a tablet. Under the hood, the CF18 is state-of-the-art with Intel Pentium technology, USB 2.0, an array of advanced options (including Bluetooth, GPS, and many wireless standards), and superb connectivity. The CF18 also houses a substantial 52 WHr battery for long life.
