Aceeca is a privately owned New Zealand company that sells a variety of instruments and mobile handheld devices all over the world.
Aceeca's latest product, the PDA32, offers something that was once sold by the millions, but is now no longer commercially available: a PDA based on the classic Palm OS. Yes, the PDA32 runs Garnet v5.4, which is what the Palm OS is now called.
Better yet, it's running the Palm OS on a high-res 320 x 480 pixel color screen with LED backlight. Add to that a long-lasting 2,600mAH battery, a SD Card slot as well as optional stereo output and voice recording, optional IR, and optional 802.11b/g WiFi, the inexpensive Aceeca PDA32 may be better and more practical than any actual Palm OS device ever was.
We wish the PDA32 were also a fully rugged device, but it's not. So no IP rating or drop spec, but Aceeca still indicates a very wide 14 to 140 degree Fahrenheit operating temperature range. Aceeca does offer a vehicle charger, a padded holster, and a desktop cradle.
Received an email blast from Aceeca April 11, 2011, concentrating on the PDA32, which is now described as "semi-rugged." Aceecsa emphasizes the very low price of the PDA32, and also an a la carte approach where customers only pay for features they actually need. So IrDA, voice recording, stereo sound, BT and WiFi can all be optionally added (once available) for US$20 to 20 each). Likewise, Aceeca offers different colors, logos and branding.
